Muthoni Fernand is an Associate Professor in the Counseling Department at Webster University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the states of Missouri and also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Dr. Fernand’s research interests include the development of culturally responsive approaches to counseling minority clients, advancement of counseling in sub-Sahara Africa, globalization of counseling, coping responses and caregiver burden among family caregivers, and cultural considerations for conducting cross-cultural and international research. Muthoni earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida. She holds a MA in Counseling from Heidelberg College and a B.Ed. (Arts) from Kenyatta University, Kenya. She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Counselor Educators and Supervisors (ACES), and the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD)
